Ronald Kan (Artistic director/Conductor/Early Childhood Music Program Coordinator/Instructor - in Kodaly, Carl Orff, and Suzuki. He is also an author of several secondary music books, a certified Suzuki Piano instructor)
Mr Ronald Kan is the founder and Artistic director of Hong Kong Suzuki Music Academy, a famous Host of a previous popular TVB Children Program, a certified Suzuki Piano teacher, a publicly known conductor , an experienced and creative music instructor, and an author of several published music books for secondary school. Lately, Mr Ronald Kan also provides professional training and workshops for teachers on specialized kindergarten music. When he was in Canada, he taught at Mount Royal College as a Suzuki Piano teacher and organized Early Childhood Music Program. Mr Ronald Kan also spent a lot of his time serving his community by conducting a children choir and a church choir. He was recognized as a humorous and innovative Suzuki Piano teacher and conductor.
After receiving his Bachelor of Music and Master of Arts in Music, Mr Ronald Kan furthered his studies in Kodaly Method at the University of Calgary, which is famous for training outstanding Kodaly teachers. The Music Department Head at the University of Calgary, Lois Chosky, is notable of her books "Kodaly Method". With his many years of experienced hands on teaching, and the love for music, Mr Ronald Kan continued his advanced study on Carl Orff Method. Upon his completion of Carl Orff course and receiving his certification in Orff Method, Mr Ronald Kan was recognized by his peers in his extensive research in Suzuki Method at Mount Royal College.
Mr Ronald Kan was personally instructed by Merlin Thompson, who is the student of Dr. Suzuki (the founder of Suzuki Method) in Japan, to become an enthusiastic Suzuki Piano teacher in Calgary, Canada. At the same time, Mr Ronald Kan received his intensive piano training and techniques from several outstanding pianists and performers: Professor Pat Jewell, and Professor Charles Foreman. Mr Ronald Kan further studied his choral conducting and instrumental conducting with Dr. Malcolm Edwards and Dr. Glen Price. Currently, Mr Ronald Kan is a full-time member of AKA (Alberta Kodaly Association), SAA (Suzuki Association of Americas) and COC (Carl Orff of Canada).
After coming back from Canada to Hong Kong, Mr Ronald Kan was appointed to be the music instructor at International Music Academy teaching theory, choral technique and sight-singing technique. In addition to this, he was also invited to be the main host of a popular TVB Children Program "Rainbow Bus" which was praised by many parents and children. Mr Ronald Kan regularly provides training and workshops for teachers at the kindergarten. Being an animated music educator also, Mr Ronald Kan is going to publish his third set of music books for secondary school soon. This year, the Junior and Senior Choir taught by Mr Ronald Kan, came in first place in a CAA organized singing competition. Mr. Ronald Kan was awarded and named as the "Excellent Teacher" in this event. The entire creative music curriculum in Hong Kong Suzuki Talent Education Centre is solely written by Mr Ronald Kan. His goal is not only to offer a high standard of music education to his students, but also to provide a joyful learning environment. He wants his students to become skillful, confident, discipline, co-operative and can have fun while learning music. All the instructors are all carefully selected, supervised and continuously trained by Mr Ronald Kan himself personally
